Installing Kanzi Connect

System requirements

Minimum system requirements for developing with Kanzi Connect are:

  • Windows 7, 8, and 10

  • 4 GB of free disk space

  • 1 GB of RAM (2 GB recommended)

  • Graphics card compatible with OpenGL 3.3 or later and graphics card drivers no more than 12 months old

To develop Kanzi Connect applications for Android:

  • 50 GB of free disk space

  • Python 3.6

  • Android SDK Build Tools 30 or newer

  • Android Studio 4.2.1 or newer

Prerequisites for Kanzi Connect

  • Kanzi 3.9.9

  • Kanzi Build Environment

  • For development on Windows:

    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 or 2017 with the latest updates

    • CMake 3.15 or newer

  • For development on Linux:

    • Build essentials, SCons, and Ninja

    • CMake 3.22

Installing Kanzi Connect on Windows

To install Kanzi Connect on Windows:

  1. Copy the Kanzi Connect installer file to a local disk.

    You need administrator’s rights on the computer where you are installing Kanzi Connect.

  2. Run the Kanzi Connect installer and follow the onscreen instructions.

    If possible, install Kanzi Connect in the root directory of workspace of the Kanzi version with which you want to use Kanzi Connect.

  3. To complete your installation restart your computer.

    During the installation Kanzi Connect installer sets environment variables. Restart your computer to make sure that your computer takes these into use.

  4. Check that these environment variables point to correct locations:

    • KANZI_HOME to point to the Kanzi workspace directory of the Kanzi version that you want to use with this installation of Kanzi Connect

    • KANZI_CONNECT_SDK to point to the Kanzi Connect installation directory that contains the version of Kanzi Connect that you want to use

    • CONNECT_PATH to point to the same version of Kanzi that KANZI_HOME and Kanzi Connect that KANZI_CONNECT_SDK environment variables point to. Kanzi Connect uses this environment variable to load the correct Windows libraries.

Installing Kanzi Connect on Linux

To install Kanzi Connect on Linux, copy the Kanzi Connect archive to your development environment and extract it.

If you are using Linux with bash, Kanzi Connect comes with helper scripts to set up the development environment and build examples.
